Mighty Jack is the first graphic novel book in the series which is action-packed and open-ended. The illustration is cartoony and colourful with its writing style attention-grabbing. Jack is the oldest child with his sister Maddy who is autistic and never speaks. He takes care of her whilst his single mother works two jobs over summer.
At the markets, “prompted by his sister, Jack trades his mom's car for a box of mysterious seeds, but soon their normal garden turns into a wild jungle filled with magical creatures and, one night, changes into a dragon.” (sourced from Novelist). The book covers real-world issues as well as family relationships and special-needs siblings. The story ends a promising sequel.
